Look at number of trucks with D44 vs those with D60. A D44 will do fine for the avergae person who does moderate offroading. I cant ever remember replacing a balljoint in any D44 I had. I am on my second D60 that needs kingpins from highway use. A good posi or locker in the front with good axles will cure almost all of the weak links. Yes the D60 has big breaks but how much weight are you stopping. Somehow the magazines have convinced people that you must have this or that to have a good 4x4, which just happen to be the same products that support their mags. hmm
