Chat with tdot produced the following, form vtr 61 dht 142251, affidavit and application to register and title a vehicle which has been rebuilt, assembled, recontructed, stripped or has a change in componet parts, othe form is vtr 68-a dht 142265 application for assigned or reassigned number, should have all of these plus a form 275 and then go to office for title/vin/motor search by the state and $2.00 fee for search. If the dead records do not show where truck was ever in state of texas name (firetrucks/m37 brush trucks)h in local use from uncle sam, you get a letter saying so. Then with with this letter and your 4 forms you can request a title hearing in county court and get your title! That will cost you about court nothing as county should have done it in the first place.
