I think that you are grossly mistaken about the liability issue. For example, in MO and IL, when a vehicle is transferred, both sign the title and then the new owner carries the title with them. At that time, the po is still the name on the title, but the new owner has legal claim, and responsibility. It is on the shoulders of the new owner to transfer documented ownership. If what you say is true, then I could go buy someone’s car, get the title, throw it in the garbage and drive around with no insurance, with no regard for anyone else because I am riding on the po's liability. What Jonas did sounds like a very sound way of conducting such a long distance transaction. If he can document receipt of funds, then the truck is sold!

As far as you being a nuisance, I concur.
