I put a new distributor cap in my jeep once. The resistance in the center of the cap was so great it did not allow a good spark to jump inside the distributor cap from the center via the rotor to the spark plug. Maybe if you remove the distributor cap, and sctatch off any carbon build up on the inside of the cap? Run some sand paper over the rotor, and clean any build up on it.I replaced my distrubutor cap and the jeep fired right up. Actually I had so much unburned gas in the pistons when it did fire it sounded like a shotgun. Blew off all the rust on the exhaust manifold, tail pipe and muffler.
