He is right. That is the way I have removed mine in the past. I did not have to use any heat on mine. Go to the hardware store and buy a 6" piece of water pipe with 1/4" NPT (National Pipe Thread??) Every hardware will have them. Then take a slide hammer. They are commonly used in the autobody shops to remove dents. I managed to use a a bolt between the slide hammer and the pice of pipe. The slide hammer was threaded and the i foced the bolt into the center of the pipe. Buy more than one piece of pipe as you will pull the threads off it. The threads in the pin are much harder than the pipe treads so not much chance of destroying them.

The pins can be difficult to get started as there is often a lip on them due to wear or they are rusted into position. Either way they can be difficult to get started.
