The bolts that secure the steering arm to the knuckle usually have a star lock washer. If yours are missing I would try and get some, else use lock tight. You may not need a new tube (idler arm) but an adjustment of the socket cups at each end of the tube. Take them apart to ensure you do not have any broken springs. The cups have a narrow flat side on the cup side 1/64 of an inch. If the wear is such that you do not have that flat area, then replace the cups. You may want to buy new dust covers also.
