318 start up problems.

Hi guys
When I go to fire up my 318 2 bl every weekend I have to pump the daylights out of the pedal. Then fire it up only to hear it die again. Then the process repeats itself 2 or 3 more times until the thing will run. I think I have a float problem but I'm not exactly sure. I figure maybe the float is set to low and lets the fuel drain back down the line. Or could this problem be a fuel pump thing. I really have no idea and don't want to start tinkering with something I don't know about. Any help would be just great.
