I understand your statement now, and I am aware of the problems with giving a title to someone.
But think of this, I have been told it is a Felony to remove door tags from a truck/car, whatever.
I have a STACK of them in a box that I took off trucks, mostly for research, and pictures for my websites.
I have no intention of doing anything with these tags other then look at them, but in theroy if I was told the correct thing, I am breaking the law, heck, when I helped a friend repaint his truck we removed the tags to get a better job.
Since I am not turning around and selling the tags, or putting them on trucks that are stolen (or on trucks PERIOD), I think I am safe from being arrested, but I am, and always will be careful.
If someone needed a tag and title, I would not get involved, though it is possible I offered one to someone in the past as a gift, or told them that most Troopers will only check the tag, and not the frame, so they can most likely get away with it. That would be their risk though, as I would warn them that it is not legal.
I have luckly gotten titles for all but a couple of my trucks(even the ones I parted), and I have only sold the ones I have titles for so far, though I have a couple trucks I will have to apply for title for if I want to sell, or use them.
No worries about being stolen, just a matter of doing the paperwork.
If I ever do get around to retitling the trucks I have without titles, I will read up on the laws.
Eric
