Get off of AOL and you will never look back. As far as I am concerned, AOL is targeted for first-time computer users who believe the ads.
By the way, if you go to the earthlink site and type in your address, it will tell you if you are within range for DSL service.
One word of caution. Most DSL and cable hookups come at a price of $40-$50 bucks a month. You will get used to the speed very quickly and will not want to go back the the old modem stuff.
