If you put 12 volts to the feild winding and disconect the output then you can control the voltage by the RPM instead. The voltage will go up to aroud 150 volts depending on the RPM and it will be DC voltage. You can just use a double pole double throw switch to arange the wires to do it with and run the output to a plug. The altinator will think it is only putting out 12 volts and will keep raising the voltage up along as you raise the RPMs. Mark H.
