If you have equiptment (trucks especially) that has been donated to state goverment agencies from the federal there is a law that requires certain rules for its eventual disposal or sale. One of them is that the truck must be put up for auction where the public has a right to bid. That is where the problem comes in, due to interest (money) many traders have approached local fire/civilan defense/red cross/county/etc agencies trying to purchase or trade for these trucks. Law is very clear, must go to auction, that is why you see no titles on a lot of cheap trucks, truck is actually stolen from goverment use even though pirate pays them a token amount. The General accounting Office is investigating the illegal disposal of surplused trucks currently. By the way, most states say if you buy or sell 5 trucks/cars a year you are a dealer and must pay fees. When you say you can buy parts trucks without titles all day you sound exactly like the chopshop guys. certainly someone can ask a state trooper to speak on title issues of these trucks, are there any law enforcement types that work the title department on the forum. I will not buy a truck on egouge due to the possibility of traders running up the bid, how many of these guys are being honest on the trucks they do put titles on, best thing is ask a state trooper to inspect and run the title and straighten out any mismatching or missing SN issues, if they would tell the truth the title can be straightened out in the state where it was purchased, you are not paying taxes or transfer/registration due to the no title. The truck in anna texas right now on ebay is advertised as no title, how many on this site have a correct title that would stand a trooper eyes? I hope every one but i know better. Every truck on a dealer lot must have a title, thats the way it is and always will be, even a junkyard must account for them when smashing them, of course some slip thru. With all the switching there ought to be a way to go dmv abd tell the truth instead of all this title washing, are we men of law or lawless men? Why dont we insist on a how to check if your title is correct for the truck it is on? By the way pirates, if you sell a truck without a title you may not recover payment due to coming to court with unclean hands, if i was like a pirate i would cancel the check and sue for damages, i would win, but its not worth it, just mail a disposable camera to seller ask him to snap a pic of title stamped on frame and title itself, send it to dmv and then you will not get stuck with bad deal.
