This is exactly why i am no longer self employed in this bussiness...have you priced quality materials lately...when i started painting cars full time in 1980...i could charge $500.00 for a complete paint and make money...sorry folks but that doesn't even come close to covering materials now for a full paint...the electric came off the same pole to my garage and house...but the garage was $1.10 more per kilo-watt hour...because it was a bussiness...the phone was the same deal...liability insurance has gone through the roof...mandatory contracting with a waste disposal service(state law) costs $239.00 for every 5 gallon bucket that is removed from a body shop...(no more throwing it out the back door)...the owner of a small shop is not getting rich by any means...and the ones that have been around for years do honestly feel bad about the prices charged...cause they remember what it used to cost...but they have to do what they do to feed their families also...remember when a pinto cost $1800.00...what does a car of that size cost now...sorry but someone has to stick up for these guys...my.02
