Actually, I'll tell you why those trucks are not sold....these trucks are BEAUTIES. I have dreams about trucks like these & I think that I've sent pictures of both of these trucks to everyone that I know, including my wife!
If I were closer I'd buy them both.....however, the force driving the Power Wagon market is not from guys like us that love farm trucks, work trucks & rare buses...it's the collectors that buy fully restored trucks that are driving the market. These collectors ONLY buy RESTORED trucks. Why would they buy a Power Wagon for $8000 & then put $35,000 into restoring it, when they can get guys like us to spend the $35,000 & put in our time for free...then buy them for $.50 on the dollar?
These guys don't by Crane Trucks....Flatdecks, Buses, or W500's...& they only buy RESTORED passenger vehicles. If you have a Power Wagon & you intend on selling it & want maximum dollar for it, take off that Utility body or flatdeck & throw them out....if you install a regular bed on the back you'll make more than enough extra money to pay Dave Maher for a new reproduction bed. I know you like the fire pumps & siren on the roof, but one sign of a hole in the roof or dash board & you can subtract a few more thousand...they DON'T buy Firetrucks.
I know you don't like to hear this, so if you have money to burn & just love these P/W's original so bad that you don't mind throwing money away...carry-on.
Ever checked what a restored Firetruck sells for? Zilch.
Buying a $4500 truck & spending $2000 on transportation only to begin a two year restoration just doesn't make sense to a these guys. These guys make money on their vehicles...when's the last time you remember making any money on one you've restored?
This is not bad news...unless you're the owner of those trucks!
Have no fear Todd...commercial vehicles will always be affordable. Very few people would take those trucks for free if they had to keep them....that's the truth whether you like it or not.
That being said....I'd buy either one if I had somewhere to put a Crane & a Bus but after the divorce, I'd no longer have a yard to keep them in!
