This truck has been sitting for about four years during mostly non-mechanical (body work, wiring, gauges, glass, etc.) restoration. It ran very smooth when I last parked it. The only thing I did to the engine during this time was to take the carb off to paint it, remove oil pan to clean and replace the spark plug wires. Seems to be getting good spark. I'm thinking it's the carb. It has sat longer with no problems but maybe the newer (MTBE) fuel has gummed things up. I took it off to clean and it didn't look bad. Maybe I'm getting air leak around gasket from when I took it off to paint? After running it for a few minutes the first 3 plugs (No 1,2,3) are getting a slight black carbon coating (rich) while the No. 4,5,6 plugs are white (lean). The fuel is fresh. I emptied the tank and flushed the lines and fuel pump. I also rigged up small gravity fed can with fresh fuel to bypass the pump. I would appreciate any ideas/sugestions. Thanks for your help.
Tex
