Lost a Marine and a Corsair

Joseph Tobul and his F4U corsair crashed at the Columbia, SC air show on Saturday. Mr Tobul was 68 and a former Marine who loved flying. The corsair he was flying was a war bird that had saw action in the Korean war. Mr. Tobul showed me photos of flak damage to the wings during the close air surport missions over Korea. The F4U still had patches were the damage was repaired. The corsair lost power, and was put down in the trees to miss the houses in the area.
