Just finished converting my 230 to electronic ignition with vaccuum advance.Have not driven it yet as the rest of the truck is not ready yet,but i wont miss the old points.Paid $55.00 for the distributor, coil, ballast resistorand wiring ends.I will buy the E.C.M.new as the salvage yard damaged the one in the parts truck. The donor truck was a '81 D100 /6 and O.D. 4 speed.A machinist friend turned the new distributor to size for me and it fit perfectly. The hardest part of the job was the 2 hours spent on my knees looking for the wire retainers(yes,i lost one from each distributor)that flew out during reassembly.I am amazed just how far such a small piece of wire will fly ,and how they are able to seek out the largest and most immovable objects in the work shop under which to hide.
In order to get the end play in the shaft correct,i had to take a little off the lower collar with a piece of emery cloth and use the shim from the original distributor.
Just a short length of vaccuum hose and the job is done.
