getting the frame ready to pull back in the garage

my question is if i dont have the time to sandblast it how about a good wire wheel on a drill . my frame is really in exceptional shape .and i plan on taking the rears out has any one gone this route with good results. im sure the time is longer to wire wheel it but to leave it out side for the winter would brake my heart this truck has been in a garage since 1948 it would be a shame to leave it out .probley wouldnt hurt any thing but i would like to get the frame and drive train done this winter .
