The driveline runs to the side of the swivel through the notches as Paul states. On the original design, it did run through the swivel joint. But that design was for 2wd 1.5 ton trucks and larger. Now that's a idea for someone building their own swivel (Paul), go to a centered rear diff axle, and run your drive through the swivel joint.
I am also trying to figure out a way to incorperate stops in the articulation as the only thing to keep it from rolling all the way over is the rear driveshaft!
