If a person is working on a 251, I believe that the rotating assembly from a 265 is a bolt in "factory stroker". I think that the 230 is the largest displacement/longest stroke engine using the "short" block, so a stroker would have to be a "weld and grind" affair. Any good crankshaft specialty shop should be able to do this for you as the flathead cranks are all forged steel and can easily be welded up. The fun part would be finding a shorter rod/piston combination to get the deck height back to normal. It could be done, if you have either lots of time (to go through parts books), lots of money, or lots of both. (and if you do, Charlie will probably talk you into a diesel conversion anyway) J.V.L.
