If you ever want to sell your power wagon again,
don't put a V8 in it. These trucks were made to
be run with a flathead 6 and that is the way
they should stay. As for your engine, pull the
head and the pan, replace the rings, hone the cylinders just to break the glaze,
and plastigage the bearings. They might be OK.
Look at the valves for pits or gas cutting. If
so, grind them and seats. You don't have to pull
the engine for all this. And Vintage has all the
parts you need.
Otherwise, run it. It will be fine. These engines
can run fine and not smoke on some really low
compressions.
And most of all, have fun.
