quirky ignition system on my '67

Having now replaced the starter, the ignition switch, and the relay, what could be making my ignition switch continue to rr-rr, when the engine hasn't so much as started yet. It gets stuck in that pre-turnover rr-ing until I have to disconnect the battery cables. Key turns to off position, but is unresponsive to shut off. I've had NAPA parts guru types tell me it could be the cellinoid, (yea I know that was probably VERY misspelled), and some have suggested even the flywheel should be looked at. How could these be part of the profile given their place in the power food chain? Any ideas out there?
