Just convert to 12 volts, only a few hours. I have a 51 dodge 1 ton. I bought a chevrolet alternator for a 350 from autozone for 20$(with internal regulator) You only connect one wire. Get a standard 12 volt coil. A ballast resistor to drop 12 to 6 for your points. The only bulbs I changed was the headlights.(some standard halogen, real nice and affordable) Its really pretty easy if your a do it yourselfer. The alternator is aluminum and all I did was modify the frame with a slot to fit the groove where the old generator connected. You will probably need a new top adjustable bracket. I have no complaints about my 12 volt system. Good luck. Hope this helps
