Regarding the shear pin. Some previous owner of my
truck put a steel bolt in for a "shear pin". The
result is the winch drive shaft is twisted about
1/4 turn making for a pretty noisy, unsteady
winch operation. Also the big gear in the winch is
worn way down, but that may have more to do with
water being where the oil should have been. When
I get it straightened out, I'll definitely put a
brass or bronze pin in it.
