I differ with Rick just a little, shear pins should be used, but the grade of steel in any given pin might differ, experimentation might be in order. An old veteran friend of mine who has been the wrecking business all these years, told me that a brass pin was origional used. When it comes to a 5/16" bolt, I agree, don't use a bolt, but I do use 5/16" grade 2 redi-rod. Reason being, is that it will shear evenly on both sides, where a bolt will normally have shaft on one side and threads on the other. The winch, I believe should have 7/16" cable on it, usually 200 feet. 1/2" is overkill, that is what I have on my M135 duece which is rated twice as heavy. Tom
