Cummins B3.9 in WM300

I have a '64 WM300 with a tired 251. I am considering swapping in a Cummins B3.9 4 cylinder diesel. Would this be a good swap? What would be a good transmission to use? I would like to use a 5 speed with overdrive. Thanks.
