If you have a Lockright it'll differentiate jusy fine around corners. Have someone push one wheel forwards with the rear jacked up and the transfer in neutral. Pushing the other wheel back it should very easily go clickclickclick etc. back. And the same the opposite direction. If some previous moronic imbecilic owner has made a "Lincoln Locker" (I don't like them much - that's welding the spider gears) then you must at least one axle shaft. A LR will have some freeplay between the axles; a welded diff will be absolutely solid.
