Binders are much like Power Wagons. They have a loyal cult following that while relatively small, really truely love their trucks. Binders are also similar to Power Wagons in that they are really tough trucks and darn hard to kill. Parts can be similar to Power Wagons in that you need to have someone at your local NAPA store who knows what an International is, but NAPA should be a good parts source.

Assuming that the truck is as nice as you describe, $5500 would not be a bad price for it. Firetrucks are usually well cared for and in really good condition. The main thing to remember is that while the rest of the drive train may have only 24K miles, the engine may have the equivilant of double that if it is a pumper or one that requires the engine to run while the truck stands still at a fire. But, IH engines really last, so unless there are obvious problems as long as it runs out good I wouldn't be too concerned.

Post a photo when you get it-I'd like to see it. If I didn't love these Power Giants so much I would probably have a Binder.
