I found it helpful to go to several welding supply stores, not Home Depot, and ask opinions about the right welder for you. The shop I went to steered me away from the small lincoln because of reported feeding problems on the model that I was looking at. They suggested the Miller brand. The Miller used a all-metal spool where the Lincoln used plastic. Of course this will vary with the size/model of your welder. Either way you go, get a brand that is fully supported at your local professional shop.
