REMOVING VALVE GUIDES:(1)Drive the worn intake and exhaust guides down into the tappet chamber,using Tool DD-915 for 7/16 inch valve stems,or Tool DDD-849 for 11/32 inch valve stems.
(2)If guides do not clear tappets,break the lower section of guides off with a hammer and drift.Drive out the remaining pieces.

INSTALLING VALVE GUIDES:(1)Lube the valve guides with red or white lead to facilitate installation.
(2)Insert intake and exhaust valve guides in position at top of block and drive into place as illustrated in fig.6 . Install all guides to the depth indicated in the spec. section of this manual.
251-3:VALVE GUIDE LENGTH-Intake/2.812in.
Exhaust/2.812in.
TOP OF GUIDE TO TOP OF BLOCK-Intake/.875in.
Exhaust/.875in.
CLEARENCE(stem to guide)-Intake/.001-.003in.
Exhaust/.002-.004in.
NOTE:VALVE GUIDE GUIDES ARE INSTALLED WITH COUNTERBORE DOWN;EXHAUST VALVE GUIDES ARE INSTALLED WITH COUNTERBORE UP.
