Make sure you 'adjust' the shoes away from the drum first! I dang near tore the spring clips off one of mine when I forgot.
RDavis is right, use bolts to back the drum off. There are three threaded holes (5/16" I think) around the hub. I applied some pressure, by tightening the bolts, and then whacked the $%^& out of it to break the drums loose from the hubs.
