The real problem that I have found with replacement copper washers is that they are much harder than the original. They are supose to crush and seal. The alloy in the new ones do not crush as much and I have had lots of problems getting them to seal. If your the washer you took out is still in good shape I would go ahead and use it. What ever you decide to do keep an eye on the connection for several days to make sure it is not leaking.
