Had a flat tire yesterday

On my way from Evanston, WY to Rock Springs, WY, I felt the dreaded mushy, unstable feel of a rear tire going down. I had the Power Wagon slowed down pretty well before the tire went all the way flat. I got out the Budd wrench and cheater bar, the hydraulic jack and the spare and went to work. Pretty soon, an SUV stopped and Lannie Pope came over to give me a hand. Lannie lives in Lyman, WY and owns a flat fender Power Wagon with a snow plow. The exchange went quickly and Lannie helped me boost the flat into the back of the Power Wagon. Where else in America can you get a flat tire on a Power Wagon and have the driver of the first vehicle to come along be a fellow Power Wagon owner?

When I got to Rock Springs, I told Steve Wataha that I had a flat on the way over. This was the first flat tire that I have ever had on a Power Wagon in over 12 years of steady driving. Steve said that he only had one flat on his Power Wagons in over 35 years of driving and that flat was one that went down over night. Steve's only vehicles in the 20 years or so that I have known him are flat fender Power Wagons, so this is an amazing record. I have the feeling that most Power Wagons go through life without many flats. What is your experience?
