More than a few folks have gone with the 318 Helitool conversion and by all accounts, this is the way to go - relatively inexpensive and easy, parts readily available, genuine increase in performance...
Paul (in NY) can tell you everything you need to know and I have a buddy in Illinois going the same route right now.
HOWEVER, a 3.7 Herc is kinda nice....
