The adjuster from the factory is usually sticking out about 1 1/4 inch.Most have never been adjusted since.
Tighten adjuster til it snugs- not REAL tight, just take the slack out. If you get it way too tight,it'll lock. If it's a little too tight, your arms will tire in 1/4 mile, if so back it off 1/2 turn.Test drive cato be sure. If the simple ajustment don't help, time to rebuild the box, or find a used one that still has a lot of adjuster sticking out.
