The specialty tools you'll need is a harmonic balancer puller and installer. They are pretty necessary, but I've removed with hammer&bar and installed with hammer...not recommended at all.
You'll need to pull the fan, the waterpump housing (the part the lower rad hose is attached to), make sure you get the heater hose fitting out to get the 'hidden' bolt (use vise grips), the timing chain cover (some bolts up from the oil pan), and now the chain/gears are exposed. Set the motor on TDC with the marks lined up before you pull the gears/chain to make it easier to line up later. A cheap gear puller to get the crank gear off might be nice, maybe could jury-rig the harmonic balancer puller here.

This covers most of it...try to rent or borrow (or buy if you can afford it) the puller/installer as it will make the job MUCH easier with less chance of damage.
