With an L-head you get greater valve shrouding as the chamber volume decreases, you have to carefully balance CR with flow, something which isn't an issue with OHV motors.

I thought of using a low 7:0 CR with a turbocharger to wake up a flathead, the chamber volume remains large for adequate flow.

In theory you could boast low and midrange torge up to 4,000 RPM or so, without changing the normal characteristics of the motor, keeping the OEM camshaft. I've never heard of anyone turbo'ing a Mopar L-head, perhaps the bottom end isn't strong enough to handle 8 to 10 pounds of boost ? You would need custom pistons. A rodder turbo'd a Studebaker L-head, he had problems with clutches burning from the increase in torque.
