Water Distribution Tube - Again

A few months ago I pulled the front shroud, radiator and water pump off my '61. Water pump was shot. I expected to pull the water distribution tube at the same time, but for the life of me, I couldn't see one, or even any place where one could have been??
This is a 251 motor. What was I missing?
I'd appreciate any help on this.

As a side note, if I was going to do this again, I would not have pulled the front shroud, it was a bear!! Should have pulled the winch, grill and pulled the radiator out that way.
