I'm afraid you'd have only a short reprieve. Our government is largely elected by by large, urban voting blocks who don't give a damn about rural life. These are the people who want to regulate farmers out of business because after all, "Why do we need farms? You can get all the food you need at the grocery store." (I swear that's a true quote!)
It looks bleak. We can't win at the ballot box, we're outnumbered. Maybe our governments will let us out and we can set up the "Rural States of America?" he said as he folded his soapbox and walked into the sunset.
