I had a car (out of registration) that was parked in my driveway. I rolled it out of the driveway and parked it in front of the house and called the local charity and arranged to have the car picked up the next day as a donation. When I got up in the morning, the car was gone. No ticket, no nothing. The police had swept in and had it towed from in front of my house. I called the police and they told me it must be stolen because they didn't have it. Several days and many calls later after the tow company storage fees had built up, the police admitted that they took the car. Cost me $350 to get the car back so I could donate it to charity. If they just would have even left a note or knocked on the door before stealing my car, I would have had a much more positive view.
Mort Sahl once said that the definition of a liberal is a conservative who has been beaten up by the police. I still consider myself a conservative, but the police have not gone out of there way to make my life any easier.
