I've heard that the French version, The Marmon-Simca are even tougher that the unimog. Parts are supposedly readily available, and it uses a mercury flathead v-8. I looked into them at one time and having a very nice clean one landed in Tacoma was going to be around $6000 US, so they are a heck of a lot cheaper. If I remember right, they have a ladder type frame and straight axles with air lock differentials. I can shoot you some pictures if you like.
