I don't know about running the two pumps in series, never done it. Kim's WC has a AC electric pump on it that puts out about 4 psi. No problems yet with it feeding the original Zennith carb.
In the past I have run big Holley pumps at 6-7 psi on nitrous fed cars with no problems with needle/seat seal. So I would'nt think 5 psi would be a problem on a good needle/seat.
