The problem will be the length (and spline count) of the input shaft on the dodge spur gear transmission, which is probably over 6 inche long and may have a spline count for which AA does not make a femalke receiver on the rae of it's Ranger OD tranny. The total length of the Ranger overdrive gear box is about 6 inches, so you most likely would have to have a new input shaft made for the Dodge spur gear tranny to slip into the backside of the Ranger. Rangers are made stock for Chevy trannys, which have short input shafts that (theoretically) would not poke out the front of the Ranger (which is what most Dodge tranny input shafts would do in theory). Custom machine work gets expensive.

Finally, the PW is slow enough in 4th gear with the 230 engine; adding another gear (overdrive) will help you run out of torque even sooner, especially on very slight grades. I think you need a V-8 or diesel engine to make an overdrive worthwhile on a FF PW. The 230 just does not have enough beans, especially at 5,280 +- feet.
