My Dodge Stinks

My dodge stinks, and other hygiene questions

First off both trucks stink. I’m not talking about that grease and dust on a warm day smell. It’s the exhaust; it smells toxic. It sticks to your skin and your clothes. I’m sure it isn’t healthy. Any suggestions on how to clean up that tailpipe and crankcase vent?

On one truck I’m having fuel problems (I think). The truck chugs and surges. To remedy this I ease off the gas. Problem is pretty soon you don’t have any more pedal to ease off
of then the truck stalls. I’m interested in installing an electric pump near the tank. Vaughn, where can I find those plans you mentioned? Anyone tried fuel injecting a flathead six like the slant six folks have done? When I go electric is there a vacuum pump I could put on the engine in place of the fuel pump?

I’m a cheapskate and don’t want to pay full price for a functioning distributor. Are there newer model engines in junkyards that I can cannibalize? My current distributor doesn’t have vacuum or mechanical advance (makes crossing the highway lots of fun).

What wheels are correct for a `63 M56-B1 (think longer M-37)? I have an odd duck with two kinds of offsets on the wheels. One positions the wheels to the inside and the other positions the split rim over the lug nuts. See photos at http://users.cnmnetwork.com/~unkad/wheel/wheel.html and place your vote. Also should I keep the rear dualies (could they be original)?
