Before the rebuild I did recently, I believe my engine was last rebuilt in 1954. At least that's what a tag on the side of the engine said. Anyway, despite this long period of time, the water distribution tube came right out without any trouble. But I have heard of other people having trouble pieces breaking off, etc.

As for the rest of the rebuild, I had the block, head, crankshaft and connecting rods machined, and I assembled everything else myself. I was very meticulous about the work done, and it was time-consuming but it wasn't all that difficult. You just have to pay attention to what you are doing, take your time, follow the instructions in the manuals and keep all the parts and the engine block very clean of dust and dirt.
