Perkins Powered PW??

Has anyone had any experience with a Perkins 234 4 cyl diesel?? I looked at one today sitting in a M37. The conversion was rough but the engine fit pretty good. I am considering it or one like it for my civilian PW.

Questions:

1. Does anyone know what bell housing pattern this thing has? It is currently bolted up to some kind of a GM truck 4 sp.

2. What is the general opinion on these engines? Low hp at 87, good torque at 167 ft lbs and not too bad a red line at about 2,500 rpm. Expensive to fix? I think Perkins has been bought by Catapillar.
