flairing stainless brake lines

my buddy wont ask so i will for him. he bought stainless lines for his wm .he purchased them from a man in NY . would that be a soft stainles or a hard stainles. he is having a hard time coming up with a good flairing tool .i found on on sale for $259 but it only flairs soft stainles. for $259 i would want it to flair cast iron sewer pipe. any help would help.
