Sean
I've put a electric "Backup" pump in both my M-37 and my WC 21. I have them plumbed inline with the mechanical. My 21 came with just a electric pump (no Mechanical ) and it ran for 10yrs/20k miles on that. I however reinstalled a mechanical and use the electric as back up ( just seemed right ). In times of vapor lock its a big plus to have. Most Carter carbs are rated for about 5psi. The elec pump on my M-37 put out 6psi to the carb and it never semed to hurt (floats/flooding) anything, But as I said these elec pumps were/are used as backup and not full time ( M-37 ). I have pic's of the elec pump & filter setup on my Webshot album (below) if you want to take a look, look under "M-37 misc". This pump was rated at 7psi but it only delivered 6 when the gas finally got to the carb. Most pump psi's are rated at zero head pressure, so the further the pump has to pull/push it (head) the more the psi drops.
