Another movie to watch is an old Cary Grant one called "Mr. Blanding Builds His Dream Home". A friend gave me a copy when I was building mine on 10 acres. Wells in Indiana, I'm sure, are a bit of a different issue than in Colo. Mine is 'shallow' at nearly 300 ft. (a lady at work that lives near the Hayman fire lost her 300 ft well a couple weeks ago and got nailed $11.5K for a new 500 footer). Septic systems are simple and can be no problem as long as you keep on top of keeping the tanks from getting too full. Try not to drive over the leach field too much. The old Ford tractors are very useful like everyone else said. Maneuverability and versatility are fairly important things to consider.
