Been using detergent motor oil in my 230 engines with original type oil filters for 22 years. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I have had no problems so far. It would seem to me that an engine would have to sit without running for quite some time for all of the dirt to settle from the non detergent oil to the bottom of the pan.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong on these beliefs.
