It's true, the 727 is a fine piece of machinery. Last week I towed an M43 (7,700 lb) 200 miles through the Green mountains in Vermont with a D250 equipped with a 360 and 727 trans, no tranny cooler, during a 95 degree day. The engine temperature fluctuated between 205 and 225 degrees, but the tranny just did its job and got me home. Personally, I hate automatics, especially for towing, but I have to admit, these Chrysler ones are tough.
